Acebrophylline and acetylcysteine tablets are used to treat and manage symptoms of chronic respiratory conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, and bronchitis.

Description

Acebrophylline acts as a bronchodilator and mucolytic agent. It relaxes the muscles of the airways and reduces inflammation, which widens the air passages and makes breathing easier.
Acetylcysteine is a powerful mucolytic agent (sputum thinner) that thins and loosens thick, sticky mucus (phlegm) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose, making it easier to cough out.
Key Uses
This combination medication is prescribed to help with the following conditions and symptoms:
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) management and prevention of symptoms like shortness of breath, persistent coughing, and wheezing.
Bronchial Asthma treatment and prevention of attacks by keeping airways open and reducing mucus.
Chronic Bronchitis by improving breathing and reducing the thickness of mucus in the airways.
Bronchiectasis and Emphysema.
Pulmonary complications of Cystic Fibrosis.
• Relieving symptoms such as chest tightness, excessive mucus production, and difficulty breathing.
Important Considerations

Sudden Symptoms: This medicine does not work immediately and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems; a rescue inhaler should be used for acute symptoms.
General Advice: Patients are advised to drink plenty of fluids while on this medication to help further loosen congestion and lubricate the throat.
