Vildagliptin 50 mg and Metformin 500 mg is a combination medication for managing Type 2 diabetes, working together to lower blood sugar by increasing insulin release, decreasing liver glucose production, and improving insulin sensitivity, often taken with meals to reduce stomach upset.

Description

How It Works
Metformin:
Reduces glucose made by the liver, slows sugar absorption from the gut, and makes your body use insulin better.
Vildagliptin:
Blocks an enzyme (DPP-4) to boost insulin release from the pancreas, especially after meals, and lower glucagon.
Uses
• To improve blood sugar control in adults with Type 2 diabetes, especially if metformin alone isn’t enough.
• As part of a complete diabetes plan including diet and exercise.
Important Considerations
Take with Food: Always take with meals to minimize stomach issues.
Side Effects: Common: Nausea, headache, dizziness, stomach upset, tremors. Rare but serious: Deep/rapid breathing, persistent vomiting (signs of lactic acidosis) – seek immediate care.
Driving: May cause dizziness; avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
Alcohol: Avoid or limit alcohol, as it increases low blood sugar risk.
Kidney/Liver: Your doctor will monitor kidney and liver function regularly.
How to Take
• Typically, one tablet twice daily (morning and evening) with food.
• Follow your doctor’s exact dosage and schedule.
